A Stephen Foster Collection
Known as “the father of American music,” Stephen Foster gave us some of the most enduring melodies of the 19th century. His songs—simple, heartfelt, and unmistakably American—have been sung in parlors, on riverboats, and across concert stages for more than 150 years.
This orchestral suite featuring a baritone vocal soloist brings a fresh symphonic voice to Foster’s timeless music. Beloved tunes such as Camptown Races, Beautiful Dreamer, Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, and Oh! Susanna are reimagined in colorful orchestral settings that celebrate both their lyrical charm and rhythmic vitality.
Like a musical journey through America’s past, the suite moves from spirited dance-like energy to moments of tender nostalgia. Lush strings, sparkling winds, and vibrant brass bring new life to Foster’s melodies while honoring their folk roots. The result is a joyful tribute to one of America’s first great songwriters, inviting audiences to rediscover the warmth, humor, and heartfelt simplicity that made his music part of our shared cultural heritage.
